Obituary for Elaine E. Peterberns

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Elaine E. Peterberns, 84, died on June 24, 2017 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital.

Born in New York City on July 21, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Fred J. and Anna E. (Hoffmann) Ippich. On November 20, 1966 in New York City, Elaine married Bernhard L. Peterberns who predeceased her on December 31, 2001.

Elaine had been a successful business woman who owned and operated her own packaging business. She and her husband had lived in Albertson, LI and spent their weekends in Hopewell Junction before retiring here permanently in 1983.

Elaine was a member of the Wiccopee United Methodist Church where she served on various committees. She was a life member of the Wiccopee Fire Company, where she served as Assistant Vice President of the Auxiliary. She was Secretary of the East Fishkill Historical Society, and also enjoyed the time she spent at the East Fishkill Community Center.

She is survived by her cousin, Florence Bohn of Kenosha, WI; numerous cousins, and many dear friends and neighbors. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brother, Fred A. Ippich.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-6 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Linda Willey at 6pm at the funeral home. Burial at Fishkill Rural Cemetery will be private.
