The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of James Salerno can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: Merry Christmas, Dad.....

My first Christmas without you feels so empty as it was one of your favorite times of the year, if not thee favorite time you so enjoyed. I will always remember and cherish our holiday time together....the shopping, the wrapping, the food, the sweets and just being together as family. I miss you, dad.....beyond measure.

My love always,
Lynda

Condolence: Happy Father's Day, Dad...

Today marks our first Father's Day without you. It has been four months since your passing and it seems like you are still with us.

I want to tell you about the rose bush that was planted almost 20 years ago that I used to complain to you about because it never bloomed and you would tell me each time, "it's because you are not feeding it!" Well Dad, I still never took your advice and fed it, however, for the first time in 20 years it not only has doubled in size, but has beautiful blooms all over it. And, on top of that, they are beautiful red colored blooms (our favorite color!) Thank you Dad for showing me that you are still very much with me as I think about you every day and miss you so very much.

Happy Father's Day, Dad...I hope you are at peace.

My love to you, always...
Lynda

Condolence From: Chris Evangel
Condolence: To Mr. Salerno’s family, while he and I never met in this life, he has lived in my life through the numerous years of listening to the many stories of him from his devoted and loving daughter, Lynda. From these stories, I’ve learned he was very intelligent, steadfast, a dedicated father/grandfather, and a loving husband. All this made him a strong family man too -- very close to his family, including brother in-laws that made them more like brothers with frequent get togethers, including countless road trips.
I know he will be missed by all those who loved him both his family and friends.

The Evangel Family extends our deepest sympathy and may he rest in eternal peace.

Condolence From: "Little" Jimmy
Condolence: Dad,

There's a reason why they called me "little" Jimmy and it wasn't simply that we shared the same name. Throughout life I have always felt a special attachment to you, as if I were an extension of your personality and feelings. You supported me throughout my entire education, from elementary school when you tutored me in your favorite subject (science),through high school, when again, you had to tutor me in chemistry. Having a chemist as a father did have its advantages. If it were'nt for your constant pushing me, I don't think I would have made it through college.

One of my earliest memories was being in the hospital overnight as a young boy (tonsils maybe)and all I did was cry constantly. You and mom came to visit me and you left me with an orange and a toy. Where you got the idea for an orange I'll never know. I remember holding that orange and crying even more that night because it reminded me of you and I missed you so much.

I will always remember our fishing trips and bowling tournaments and I will forever thank you for your generous gift of the most wonderful Hawaiian honeymoon with my dear departed wife Karen.

Rest in peace Dad.

Love Always,

"Little" Jimmy

Condolence: Jim aka "Big Guy" - I knew you almost as long as my own father and you always treated me as if I was your own son. You were always fun to be around and I always knew I could count on you. I have great memories of the 33 years that I knew you - from the love you showed your grandsons, to the board and card games we played, to the way you always gave me your chair at the Alta Vista house, to the way you called every basketball player whose name you couldn't remember the "Big Guy"- hence your aforementioned nickname, to your electric barbecue- well I can go on and on.

Your most important contribution to my life, however, was your beautiful daughter Lynda, who became my wife. For that, and for our long relationship, I will be eternally grateful.

I will always love you as I did my own parents.
