Obituary for
Angelo C. "Charlie" Calabrese
Angelo C. Calabrese, “Charlie”, passed away on December 18, 2010 at Wingate at Dutchess, Fishkill, NY at the age of 90.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on January 21, 1920, he was the son of Guisseppe and Angelina Calabrese. On June 21, 1942, he married his childhood sweetheart, Yolanda Panarello, who predeceased him on April 16, 1999. He was a sheet metal worker in Brooklyn before moving to LaGrangeville. He was then employed by Mattewan State Hospital in Beacon in the Maintenance Department until his retirement in 1982. He was a communicant of St. Denis Church, Hopewell Junction and St. Mary’s Church in Fishkill. Angelo was a WWII veteran serving the 339 Field Artillery Battalion in Italy and was the recipient of a Bronze Star Medal.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda and husband Reno Bo of Hopewell Junction, and Ellen and husband James Costa of Wappingers Falls; grandsons, Reno Bo of Nashville, TN, Darren Bo and fiancée Dana Sherwood of Poughkeepsie and Jamie Costa and wife Leah of Boulder, CO; granddaughter, Dena and husband Michael Marro, and great-grandson Mason Marro of Hyde Park. He was predeceased by his brothers, Alfonso, Adam, Rocco, Joseph and Tony, and sisters, Katie, Mary and Minnie.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Wingate at Dutchess for their excellent care and compassion.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
