Obituary for James W. Bride Sr.

James W. Bride Sr.
James W. Bride, Sr., 80, a lifelong area resident, died on September 29, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Beacon, he was the son of John and Rose (McGrath) Bride. Jim proudly served our country in the National Guard Reserves and was employed as a Manager with IBM, East Fishkill for 35 years.

Jim was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of the Southern Dutchess Country Club where he was the Club Champion twice. He spent many summers in Maine. He loved the water and swam every chance he had. He especially enjoyed spending time on his speedboat which gave the kids the opportunity to waterski all day.

Jim was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who truly loved his family. One of his greatest joys in life was watching his children and grandchildren all become successful adults.

On June 18, 1961 at St. Joachim’s Church, Jim married his school sweetheart, Suzanne Schofield, who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, James William and Bettina Bride, Jacquelyn Ann and David A. Lindsay, and Mary Susan and Ray Robbins; his grandchildren, Adelina Jakuba, Kavan Jakuba, Reanna Robbins, Brianna Bride and Kayla Bride; his niece, Cathi Brand and her husband Harry; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and several grand dogs, three of which are therapy dogs. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister, Catherine Ranilli; and his brothers, Walter, John (Jack), and William Bride.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 103 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc.
The family would like to thank the staff at Vassar Brothers Hospital 4th floor, Hospice and Brianna and all his caretakers at A and T Healthcare.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Please visit Jim’s Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
