Obituary for Rudolf P. "Rudy" Schupp

Rudolf P. (Rudy) Schupp, 77, passed away on December 1, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born on August 4, 1939 in Ridgewood, Queens, NY to Philipp and Gertrude (Stuss) Schupp and spent his early years in Glendale, Queens. He received an engineering degree from the State University of New York.

Rudy worked for IBM, both directly and as a contractor for many years. For the past 15 years, he sold real estate in Dutchess County. Rudy was proud to have been one of the founders of the East Fishkill Soccer Club. In 1980, he was inducted into the Dutchess County Soccer Hall of Fame after coaching hundreds of players during his career. As head coach of the East Hudson Youth Soccer Soccer League, he had the opportunity to take a select team to Germany. In 2003, he organized a 50th reunion of many of his classmates from elementary school. Rudy organized and ran a pocket billiard league in Dutchess County and was a member both 8-ball and 9-ball teams.

Rudy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Marilyn (nee Sargent) Schupp; his stepson David Burnett and daughter-in-law Clare (nee Fugardi) of Brighton, CO; and stepson Erick Burnett of Sunderland, MA. He is also survived by his former wife Mona Shuker (nee Doehler); his 4 children Eric Schupp of Enfield, CT, Cynthia Schupp of West Palm Beach, FL, Nicole Burian of Duanesburg, NY, and Thomas Schupp of Enfield, CT. He has 8 grandchildren, Stephen Alexander, Zachary Schupp, Chase and Lexi Burian, DJ Burnett, Dylan Kasulis, Hunter and Jocelyn Schupp; and his brother Philipp Schupp and sister-in-law Roxana of Crestwood, KY. He was predeceased by his parents, Philipp and Gertrude (nee Stuss) Schupp.

Calling hours will be held from 4-7pm on Monday, December 5, at McHoul Funeral, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 6th at 10:30am at the funeral home.
