My daughter, Nicole's age, was initially diagnosed with CF, but was later cleared of this possibility. I understood Nicole's medical problems and how fortunate I was that my daughter did not have CF. We recently lost a teenage girl from the Marlboro/Milton area, where I now live. During her short lifetime, several of the groups, to which I belong, raised thousands of dollars for the CF Foundation. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy in the loss of Nicole and her baby. I'm posting this poem for all Nicole's family. I found it many years ago and I hope it brings some comfort. Thinking of you all xxxxx "To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say. But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay. I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through. God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you." "It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on. I need you here so badly, you are part of my plan. There is so much that we can do, to help our mortal man." God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight. God and I are closest to you.... in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years. Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain. I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over. I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before. There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; But together we can do it by taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too; That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you. If you can help somebody who is in sorrow and pain; Then you can say to God at night...."My day was not in vain. And now I am contented... that my life was worthwhile. I first met Rob when I moved to Fayetteville, NC, in 2006. We quickly became friends, as I moved in next door to him. After several months, he and Nicole were married, and she moved from New York to NC. We all became pretty close, with them coming over to my house or I to theirs. After they left to move back to New York, we still kept in touch, but over the last several months, I deployed, and hadn't talked to them. I've been aware of Nicole's CF since I first met them, but never thought that I'd see this day. She was strong, and I never once heard her complain. Words cannot express the pain and sorrow that we all feel for the loss of your beautiful angel, Nicole. She was beautiful inside and out and has left a footprint in all of our lives. Teresa Corrente-Masciandaro made Nicole a part of our daily lives and Nicole was in our thoughts and prayers every minute of every day. May God be with you all and give you the strength and the courage to carry on with Nicole as your guardian angel.

I was fortunate enough to meet Nicole when our husbands' deployed to Iraq together. I do believe God places people in each other’s lives for a reason, and I know her placement in mine was purely because He wanted me to meet someone who was just good all around. I remember being terrified and when you go through something like this, like what we went through, you find comfort in those that know how you feel. I always felt better in her company. I will never forget one of the nights that Nicole invited me over for dinner, as she had done so many times before; and by the way her cooking was amazing. I had been down about not being able to see Michael and how the deployment seemed like it was getting longer, though time was dwindling away. Mike did not have skype but Rob did, and she had set it up for me to be able to see Michael through her and Rob’s skype. This was one of the best things anyone had done for me. But this is just one of the memories I have of Nicole and how gracious she is. I also remember, I have to share this one, because it was just to much fun, was a time that Nicole and I watched Mike and Rob do a combat jump. It was cold outside, freezing. She wore flip flops and kept saying she wish she hadn't of worn them. I had brought starbucks and magazines. The guys took forever. I remember us running back and forth to my car to keep warm but not wanting to miss them jump. That was a good time. It was the first time I had ever seen them jump, and I couldn't have shared it with a better person. I love her so much, and I miss her. I am so grateful that she was my friend.
