Obituary for Raymond C. Barton Jr.

POUGHKEEPSIE – Raymond C. Barton, Jr., 85, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.

Son of the late Raymond C. and Charlotte (Perrine) Barton, he was born in Poughkeepsie on March 3, 1937.

In 1961, Ray married Carol Zeleznik of Hyde Park, NY. They first settled in Poughkeepsie then moved to Wappingers Falls for many years. They had three daughters.

Later in life, Ray met and married Jean Gallagher Fish in June of 1986 at Mesier Park in Wappingers Falls. He became a stepfather to her three daughters, for a total of six daughters. Ray and Jean enjoyed many happy years together including lots of travelling, especially to Jean’s home country of England to visit her family. She predeceased him in 2008.

Raymond worked for IBM at the company’s East Fishkill campus for 28 years. He retired as a Procurement Manager in 1993. In 2016, he returned to the Hudson Valley after having resided in Wilmington, NC and Clearwater, FL for several years.

As an avid outdoorsman, his hobbies included fishing, camping, canoeing, and walking in the woods. He always enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time with those he loved. He was also a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #275 in Poughkeepsie.

Raymond is survived by six daughters: Denise Barton of Poughkeepsie, Lorraine Barton of Wappingers Falls, Sue-Ann Barton of Fayetteville, NC, Jeannine Rannie (Jamie) of Poughkeepsie, Niki Dane (Matt) of Montpelier, VA, and Billie Jean Fish of Wilmington, NC. His grandchildren Michael and Garrett Ossolinski, Jeremy Taylor, Nicolas and Sophia Ranni, Danielle Shannon (Harris), Patrick and Rileigh Dane, Madison and Olivia Fish, Hunter and Hannah Riddle; his two great- grandchildren Cooper and Colbie Jean Austin; and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Raymond was also predeceased by his sister, Gloria Dombroski in 2012.

Calling hours will be held from 12pm to 3pm on Saturday, June 18 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill.
