Obituary for Phyllis Caruso

HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Phyllis Caruso, 88, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully at home on June 29, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Born in Plainfield, VT on April 28, 1934, Phyllis was the daughter of the late James and Evelyn (Raycraft) Wilkin. She was employed as a nursery school teacher at the Wappingers Play Group for over 20 years until her retirement. She enjoyed visiting casinos, especially Mohegan Sun and Monticello. More than anything, Phyllis loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of over 69 years, John Caruso, at home; her children, Debbi Cocuzza and her husband Robert of Hopewell Junction, Robin Marks of Newburgh, and Thomas Caruso and his wife Marie of New City; her grandchildren, Christopher Slaughter and his wife Yasmine, Jaime Van Zandt and her husband Tommy, Robert Cocuzza, Jr. and his wife Kim, Steven Marks and his wife Meaghan, Greg Marks and his wife Christine, Anthony Caruso and his wife Sarah, and Analisa Caruso and her fiancé Dave Souza; her 12 great-grandchildren, Justice, Noah, Isaac, Asher, Petra, Eden, Camryn, Caleb, Leighton, Griffin, Jane, and Rose; her brother, James Wilkin and his wife Jackie; her sister, Donna Kozlek and her husband Peter; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was also predeceased by several siblings.
Funeral services will be private at this time and Phyllis is being buried at Hopewell Cemetery.
