Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Peters

FISHKILL - Mary Elizabeth Peters, 59, a resident of Fishkill and previously of the Bronx and Little Falls, died on Friday, November 30, 2018 at home surrounded by her family.
Born on June 2, 1959 in Manhattan, Mary was the daughter of Gerard W. and Nora T. (Shaughnessy) Sherry. On May 29, 1988 in the Bronx, Mary married John F. Peters who predeceased her on January 30, 2009.
Mary was a Central Office Technician for Verizon in Manhattan and Newburgh until her retirement in 2010 after 30 years. She enjoyed doing puzzles and collecting teapots. She loved her music especially Doo Wop music, Billy Joel, Boz Scaggs, Elton John, James Taylor and Michael McDonald.
Survivors include her children, Sean G. Peters of Fishkill, Dawn Peters and her spouse Louise of Hackettstown, NJ; her mother, Nora Sherry; her siblings, John Sherry and his wife, Joyce, James Sherry and his wife, Ellen, Gerard Sherry and his wife, Mery, Tom Sherry and his significant other, Maureen, Bill Sherry and his wife Vivi, Nora Crispino and her husband, Al, Cathy Sherry; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; her best friend, Lynn Carroll Gallagher; and her dog, Missy. Missy never left Mary’s side.
The family would like to thank Mary’s aide, Marva, all the members of Hudson Valley Hospice, Dr. Eli Diamond of Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Dr. Robert Wolfson of Caremount.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 16 at the Commons at Fishkill Club House, 1000 Commons Way, Fishkill.
