Obituary for Stephen Gatti

Stephen Gatti
BROOKLYN – Stephen Gatti, 49, died on November 22, 2018 at his home.

Stephen was born and raised in Brooklyn. He had been employed by Walmart for the past 15 years. He started his career with them in Fishkill then relocated to New Jersey, before being promoted to an Assistant Manager at their Valley Stream, NY location. He will be remembered there for his strong work ethic and the personable and caring relationship he had with his coworkers.

Stephen, an avid comic book fan since childhood, enjoyed all things Star Wars, Dr. Who, classic sci-fi and B-movies, and gave many an hour to video games and assorted technologies. Stephen's taste in music reflected his coming of age in the 1980s - eclectic, colorful, and ironic. He was a self-taught and creative cook who shared his love for the kitchen with his niece and nephew, Katherine and Daniel, throughout their lives. He was a supportive and loyal friend to those whose lives he touched, a loving and especially goofy uncle, an honestly loving brother, and a caring son.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Patricia (Kowski) and James Nico of Wappingers Falls; his sister, Ann-Marie Sabrsula of Beacon; his stepbrother, Chris Nico and his wife Gina of Wykoff, NJ; his nieces and nephews, Katherine and Daniel Sabrsula and Anthony and Jacqueline Nico; and many cousins, friends, and coworkers. He was predeceased by his father, Louis Gatti, his grandparents, and his brother-in-law, Donald Sabrsula.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 2nd from 12 – 4 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill.

Donations may be made in Stephen’s memory to ARC Westchester’s Children’s School for Early Development. Please visit his Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
