Obituary for George V. Lukianoff

George V.  Lukianoff
HOPEWELL JUNCTION – George V. Lukianoff, a local area resident for over 50 years, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 90.

Son of the late Vasili and Vera (Strezhneva) Lukianoff, he was born in Zagreb, Croatia (formerly Yugoslavia) on August 10, 1927. He later emigrated to the United States, where he studied at both Columbia and Syracuse Universities.

George was employed by I.B.M. for over 31 years as a physicist and worked at the company’s locations in Kingston, Poughkeepsie, and East Fishkill. He retired in 1990. He was a dedicated member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Poughkeepsie, where he served as an ordained Subdeacon. He was secretary and served on the church council. George was also an active Scoutmaster for the St. George Pathfinders of America, a Russian scouting organization.

On July 24, 1966, he married Tatiana Tenson at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Sign in Manhattan. Mrs. Lukianoff survives at home in Hopewell Junction.
Additional survivors include his son, Nick Lukianoff & his wife Mila; his son, Andrei Lukianoff & his wife Kate; his daughter, Maria Lukianoff; his granddaughter, Elena Lukianoff; his brother, Basil Lukianoff; and many other loving relatives & friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ivan Lukianoff, in 2010; as well as his brother, Alexander Lukianoff, in 1944.

A vigil service was held on Monday, May 14 at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 100 Livingston Street, Poughkeepsie. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 15 at Novo Diveevo Russian Orthodox Convent, 100 Smith Road, Nanuet. Interment followed at Novo Diveevo Russian Orthodox Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 100 Livingston Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
