BEACON – Maureen “Toby” Gallagher, a lifelong local area resident, died after a long illness on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medial Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 71.
Daughter of the late Joseph F. and Vera (Sutherland) Gallagher, she was born in Beacon on July 10, 1946. She graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in 1964, and for many years worked as an office clerk for the U.S. Government in Washington, DC. She was a longtime member of the Beacon Democratic Committee.
Maureen is survived by seven siblings, Jon Gallagher & his wife Bernice of Cornwall-on-Hudson, Colleen Dunay of Fishkill, Dennis Gallagher of LaGrangeville, Kathleen Sztumerski & her husband Gary of Fishkill, Barry Gallagher of New Bern, NC, Mickey Gallagher of Staatsburg, and Terry Gallagher & his wife Janet of Sugarloaf, PA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 23 at St. Joachim Cemetery, 325 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
