Obituary for Delia S. "Dee" Fleming

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Delia S. Fleming, 62, a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly on January 6, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Fishkill on July 10, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Lena (DeRubbio) Scecchitano. Dee was a 1973 graduate of John Jay High School and attended Dutchess Community College.

Dee, a Loan Officer, was employed at Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, formerly IBM Employees Federal Credit Union, at their East Fishkill and Poughkeepsie locations for 39 years. She was a parishioner at St. Mary, Mother of the Church.

On May 12, 1979 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill, Dee married Robert Fleming who survives at home. Other survivors include her brother, Dominic Scecchitano of Fishkill; her sister, Angela DiNapoli and her husband Richard of Hopewell Junction; and many nieces and nephews including, Carina, Ariana, Dominic and Nicholas Scecchitano. In addition to her parents, Dee was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Dina Scecchitano in 2016.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 11:30 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.

Since Dee was a great lover of all animals, especially her own companions Sophie and Molly, donations may be made in her memory to Animal Rescue Foundation in Beacon.
