Obituary for James P. Whalen

James P.  Whalen
EAST FISHKILL – James P. Whalen, 74, died on November 28, 2017 following a short illness.

Born in Georgia on November 7, 1943, Jim was the son of James and Lorraine (Steubing) Whalen. He had been employed as a heavy equipment mechanic at H.O. Penn Company in Poughkeepsie. He was a life member of the Whortlekill Rod & Gun Club, and loved spending time outdoors – hunting, fishing and trapping. He loved to build and race cars, and was very creative, doing anything he set his mind to.

On February 6, 1965 at St. Sylvester’s Church in Brooklyn, Jim married Nivia (LoCastro) who survives at home. He is also survived by his sons, Jimmy (Kelly)Whalen, Joey (Emily) Whalen, and Tommy (Sharon) Whalen; his grandchildren, Hunter, Harleigh, Rachel and Frank; his brother, Richard Whalen; his sister-in-law, Camille Auci; and his nieces and nephews, Anthony and Bobbie, Joseph and Susan, Christine, Shannon and Shawn. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael Whalen.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10:30am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
